Abdominal X-ray

Native abdominal imaging is a standard, non-contrast method of examining the abdomen with X-rays. The abdominal X-ray examination is the initial method that precedes other radiological methods. It has high diagnostic value, is fast and easily accessible.

INDICATIONS / WHY IS IT WORKING?

The purpose of the examination is to exclude or confirm the presence of pneumoperitoneum, to provide information on the existence of gas-liquid levels, and to measure the diameter of the intestinal curves, if clinically necessary. The indications for this examination are suspected emergency surgical conditions – acute abdomen, bowel obstruction, perforations, calculosis, presence of a foreign body.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

It is performed by the patient standing upright, with his back to the tripod and at some point, at the doctor’s order, to stop breathing in order to perform a recording.
Patients in severe general condition can also be performed in a supine position.

POTENTIAL RISKS

• This is a completely painless method. The radiation dose you are exposed to during this recording does not cause serious complications.
• If you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy, tell medical professionals because x-rays can affect the fetus.

PREPARATION

Abdominal X-ray does not require special preparation. Take your previous medical records with you and show them to your doctor (if you have one).

AFTER X-ray ABDOMEN RECORDING

After recording, you can return to your normal daily activities.
