Multidetector (or multi-slice) computed tomography (MDCT, MSCT) gives very detailed and accurate images of the soft tissues, blood vessels and bones of the examined part of the body (head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, upper extremities, lower extremities….).

Computed tomography is a non-invasive diagnostic method, and abdominal scans and CT examinations are simple, quick and painless. They can be done immediately when needed, in some cases without special preparation. In order to achieve better visualization of tissues and organs, in certain CT imaging it is necessary to give the patient a contrast agent.

64-slice computed tomography (CT scan) is most commonly indicated in:

  • Suspected tumor or localized infection (abscess)
  • Suspected blood vessel thrombosis, aneurysm, bleeding
  • Trauma and suspected internal bleeding
  • Muscle damage and bone fracture
